Marc Humbert, MD, PhD, is Dean of Medicine and Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the Université Paris-Saclay, France. He is the director of the Respiratory and Intensive Care Medicine Department, French Pulmonary Hypertension Reference Centre, Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) and vice-coordinator of the European Reference Network for rare respiratory diseases (ERN-LUNG). He heads the Inserm/Paris-Saclay Research Laboratory “Pulmonary Hypertension: Pathophysiology and Therapeutic Innovation”. Marc was President of the European Respiratory Society (ERS, 2022) and Chief Editor of the European Respiratory Journal. Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila (Romania), he has received the 2006 ERS Cournand Lecture Award, the 2009 Descartes-Huygens Award from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, the 2016 Rare Disease Award of the Fondation de France, the 2018 ERS Award for Lifetime Achievement in PAH, the 2025 Grand Prix of the AP-HP Foundation and the 2025 Grand Prix Inserm. Since 2014, Thomson Reuters and Clarivate Analytics have listed Marc as one of the world's highly cited researchers in Clinical Medicine.
